GRID SAMPLING

Helping growers make profitable soil amelioration decisions

CEC is a calculation of the capacity of the soil to absorb, hold and exchange positively charged nutrients in the soil solution

What is Grid Sampling?

Grid sampling is splitting a paddock into 1-2Ha grids and collecting targeted soil data from each point. Each grid is represented by an individual soil sample with unique soil characteristics.

Soil pH (CaCl2) and Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) play a critical role in nutrient availability and crop health. Understanding the variation in these soil characteristics can help to achieve better fertiliser decisions and increase productivity.

In the grids to the left, pH and CEC values are interpreted to create a Variable Rate Lime map.

Why Should I Do It?

VR maps are an investment in your long-term soil health. Map your paddocks with Nutrien Ag Solutions to optimise your lime application and only spread lime where necessary.
